Exploitation of wood in peat swamp forest (HRG) has been conducted since the 1980's. One type of high-value timber that grows naturally in peat swamp forest is ramin (Gonystylus bancanus). Ramin timber and other timber species that grow naturally in peat swamp forest is done using silvicultural Indonesian Selective Logging and then refined into silvicultural Indonesian Selective Cutting and Planting (TPTI).
