Agus Justianto, Lead Coordinator of the International Tropical Peatlands Center (ITPC), will speak in a session hosted by the Global Peatlands Initiative (GPI) UNEP, titled The Global Peatlands Initiative: Advancing South–South Cooperation for Peatlands on Wednesday, 30 July, 18:30 – 19:30 (Zimbabwe local time).
As part of the event, the host will convene representatives from GPI partner countries and other key peatland-rich nations including Peru, Colombia, Indonesia, Mongolia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Republic of Congo to share insights, commitments, and visions toward the development of a future 10-Year Peatlands Strategy and the Peatland Breakthrough.
Event objectives:
- Co-developing the 10-Year Peatlands Strategy and the Peatland Breakthrough
- Promoting South–South and Triangular Cooperation through best practice sharing, including ITPC’s experience
- Reaffirming global commitment to peatland conservation and sustainable management
