Indonesia has the world’s third-largest tropical peatlands, contributing to its NDC achievement. However, some challenges remain in managing the ecosystem sustainably. Since 2020, the Improving the Management of Peatlands and the Capacities of Stakeholders in Indonesia (Peat-IMPACTS) project was implemented to address those issues. Peat-IMPACTS focuses on strengthening peat landscape governance, the capacity of farmers to produce sustainable supply chains, fair and effective climate governance through co-investments, and knowledge on peat restoration and management practices that embrace options by context. This session presents Peat IMPACTS’ results and its synergy with the current efforts of Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) and International Tropical Peatlands Center (ITPC).
